Samsung SSP Content Specifications
This article outlines the recommended encoding settings, compression methodologies, bitrate limits and resolutions for encoding content intended for Samsung Smart Signage Platform (SSP) displays, and the Eyemagnet Display product suite.
Encoding Settings
The following table outlines the specific settings and values recommended by Eyemagnet when encoding media files for playback on Samsung SSP displays, and the Eyemagnet Display product suite.
These settings are optimised to ensure all parts of the signal chain including the content production, the content delivery network (CDN), and Eyemagnet’s transcoder and software maintain consistent settings. This optimisation ensures there is no conversion or scaling which may reduce quality or cause sub-optimal playback of media.

Pixel Format settings may not be available on your media encoder and may be specified by default as part of the High (Level 5.1) Profile.
Colour Matrix, Colour Primaries, Colour TRC and Colour Space settings may not be listed individually in your media encoder. If this is the case, use Rec. 709 for your Colour Space settings instead.
Bitrate Settings
The following table demonstrates the various resolutions available within Samsung SSP displays and their respective maximum and recommended bitrates.

For Variable Bitrate Encoding, the target average bitrate setting can be dictated by the user and tested to achieve an appropriate quality result. The maximum bitrate should be set at the recommended bitrate listed above.
For Constant Rate Factor Encoding, the CRF setting can also be dictated by the user and tested to achieve an appropriate quality result. A CRF between 12 and 18 is commonly used for quality media outputs and a CRF of 24 or higher for lower data usage. CRF values should be tested on a target Eyemagnet display device to ensure optimal quality prior to distribution. The maximum bitrates should be set at the recommended bitrate listed above.
When multiple screens are being used to display a segmented video with synchronized playback, the bitrate can be multiplied by the number of screens. For example, a bit rate of 60 mbps for a 3840 x 1080 video file is suitable for two 1920 x 1080 screens.
Where data usage is not a concern Eyemagnet recommend using a constant bitrate where possible to reduce the possibility of any video artefacts.
