These settings are optimised to ensure all parts of the signal chain including the content production, the content delivery network (CDN), and Eyemagnet’s transcoder and software maintain consistent settings. The maximum bitrate should be set at the recommended bitrate listed above. For Constant Rate Factor Encoding, the CRF setting can also be dictated by the user and tested to achieve an appropriate quality result. A CRF between 12 and 18 is commonly used for quality media outputs and a CRF of 24 or higher for lower data usage. CRF values should be tested on a target Eyemagnet display device to ensure optimal quality prior to distribution. The maximum bitrates should be set at the recommended bitrate listed above. When multiple screens are being used to display a segmented video with synchronized playback, the bitrate can be multiplied by the number of screens. For example, a bit rate of 60 mbps for a 3840 x 1080 video file is suitable for two 1920 x 1080 screens. Where data usage is not a concern Eyemagnet recommend using a constant bitrate where possible to reduce the possibility of any video artefacts.
