Eyemagnet Network Requirements

Network and firewall requirements for connecting Eyemagnet displays, covering both the standard solution and Eyemagnet Connect.

We recommend using structured cabling for any network and internet connectivity. WiFi connectivity is also available with the basic offering on some display device models; however, it is not recommended because poorer service may result depending on the quality of the WiFi network.

Basic Corporate Offering

Eyemagnet's standard solution requires only an unrestricted internet connection. In a corporate environment, Eyemagnet recommends using VLAN isolation with corporate-provided dynamic address assignment (DHCP), domain name services (DNS), optional network time (NTP) and controlled access to internet resources (see the table below).

This results in a simple network configuration; however, it offers no advanced troubleshooting or support capability.

Port Protocol Rule Type Destination(s) Description
123 UDP Outbound time.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet time services
80 TCP Outbound time.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet time services
443 TCP Outbound *.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet API and CDN

Eyemagnet Connect Offering

Eyemagnet Connect (EC) is designed to provide seamless and comprehensive control over your Samsung display devices. The tool provides accurate connectivity information, wake-on-LAN functionality and the ability to send Samsung Multiple Display Control (MDC) commands directly to Samsung display devices. This requires the implementation of an Eyemagnet Connect router which utilises two distinct VLANs to isolate the solution from the Corporate LAN/WAN. An "upstream" VLAN which provides internet access for the router which can use either fixed or dynamic IP addressing, and a "display" VLAN which the router provides DHCP and default gateway routing into for the display devices.

This requires a more complex network configuration and introduces a vendor managed device into the corporate network; however, it offers more complete support functionality.

Port Protocol Rule Type Destination(s) Description
39362 UDP Outbound ec.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet VPN services
53 UDP Outbound 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 Access to Google DNS services
123 UDP Outbound time.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet time services
80 TCP Outbound time.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet time services
443 TCP Outbound *.eyemagnet.com Access to Eyemagnet API and CDN

NB: Additional rulesets may need to be configured if third-party web content (i.e. widgets, dashboards or streams) are to be consumed by the Eyemagnet display devices.
