# Configure messages

## The following article outlines how to create and configure, duplicate, and delete a message within the CMS Media Library.

### Create a new message

To create a new message, follow these steps:

1. On the **Media** page, click on the **+ New** button at the bottom of the Media Library.
2. Next, select the **New Message** option. A new Settings panel will appear that will allow you to configure a message.
3. Message configuration settings: 
     1. **Name:** add the name of your message.
     2. **Default Tags:** add **Tags** to your message that get pulled through when you create a playlist.
     3. **Background Colour:** sets the background colour of your message.
     4. **Header Image:** an image that appears at the top of your message.
     5. **Background Image:** an image that appears in the background of your message.
     6. **Tail Image:** an image that appears at the bottom of your message.
4. Next, click on the **+** icon on the **Message Entry** panel. A new entry field will appear.
5. Type out your messages and make any relevant style changes using the options available. 
     1. To change the style of a message entry, select your text and use the **Option** icons above the entry field.
     2. To add another message entry, click on the **+** icon.
     3. To remove a message entry, click on the **Trash Bin** icon next to the entry field.
     4. To rearrange a message entry, click on the **Drag and Drop** icon on the left-hand side of the entry field.
6. Once you’re finished editing your message, click on the **Save** button.
7. Your message will now appear in the Media Library.

If you have more than one message entry, the length of each entry is automatically set to 5 seconds.

### Duplicate a message

To duplicate a message, follow these steps:

1. Select a **Message** from the Media Library.
2. Click on the **Duplicate** button at the bottom left-hand side of the **Settings** panel.
3. A duplicate message will be created.
4. Rename the message, make any relevant edits and click on the **Save** button.
5. The new message will now appear in the Media Library.

### Delete a message

To delete a message, follow these steps:

1. Select a **Message** from theMedia Library.
2. Click on the **Delete** button at the bottom left-hand side of the **Settings** panel.
3. A modal will pop up asking if you’re sure you want to delete the message.
4. Click on the **Delete** button.
5. The message will now be removed from the **Media Library**.

If the message is currently within a playlist, an error message will be displayed with a link to the Playlist and the message will **not** be removed from the Media Library.
